The ART sync is a regular bi-weekly meeting facilitated by the RTE that focuses on progress, impediments, and cross-team dependencies. In effect, it’s a parent event combining the product owner (PO) sync and Scrum of Scrums (SoS).

The resulting film was equal parts alluring and ugly, refined and raunchy—in other words, a film about what it was like to live in early modern Europe. Alcott’s depictions of the English countryside are some of the most tranquil since Gainsborough picked up a brush. For the candlelit interior scenes, however, he packs dozens of weird, fleshy faces into each shot, calling to mind Hogarth’s satirical series “Marriage à-la Mode” (1743–45)and “A Rake’s Progress”(1733–34). Widely dismissed as a boring costume drama at the time of its release, Barry Lyndon has since been celebrated as one of the greatest of all films. No small part of that greatness comes from Barry Lyndon’s tension between seriousness and cheekiness—a tension Alcott emphasizes with his shrewd homages to English painting.

From classical paintings to movies, visual storytelling is an energetic vehicle for storytelling, which binds all arts. With historical paintings in a movie, a director, aside from expressing respect for master painters of a past time, in doing so, provides new levels of interpretation for current viewers. For its beauty, richness of storytelling, or for its symbolic attractiveness, famous paintings continue making a contribution towards a movie experience, making storytelling part of it generation by generation.

It is one of my favourite paintings by Theo Michael and personally, I see the characters at play by the scene of some grizzly crime, taking pictures, and gathering information amongst themselves. But, it could just as easily be anything you imagine, such is the beauty of Theo’s painting and what is left unsaid.

Vittorio Storaro—the man responsible for the look of Apocalypse Now (1979), The Conformist (1970), Last Tango in Paris (1972), Reds (1981), and Dick Tracy (1990)—is both one of the most painterly cinematographers and one of the least. He’s also been called the greatest cinematographer, period: the artist-cum-scientist who made cinematography a full-fledged, codified art form. “When people tell me I am a painter of light,” he said in a 2012 interview, “I say that I am not, because a painter expresses himself in just one single image.” When he published his magisterial, three-volume treatise on cinematography, he saw fit to title it—as if to spite Antonioni—Writing With Light.

Where mediums intersect there is often a blur. A blur of fine lines and artistry that doesn’t truly belong to one medium or the other. Cinema and painting hold their own respective places in artistic history and yet they share many of the same objectives, leaving their boundaries ambiguous and open to interpretation.

A stylistic mixture of Cubism and Futurism, Duchamp’s depiction of the titular subject in multiple exposure evokes a movement through time as well as space, and was inspired by the photographic motion studies of Eadweard Muybridge and Étienne-Jules Marey. The figure’s planar construction drew the most ire, making the painting a lighting rod for ridicule. Nude was one of a handful of paintings Duchamp made before turning full time towards the conceptualist experiments (such as the Readymades and The Large Glass) for which he’s known.

Painted by one of the most famous artists of the classical French Baroque style paintings, Et In Arcadia Ego by Nicolas Poussin depicts a pastoral scene where it shows shepherds belonging to classical antiquity surround an austere tomb.

The painting shows a beautiful and flourishing garden in the Renaissance Palace and revolves around the purity of Mary. The painting shows how Archangel Gabriel kneels before the Virgin Mary, offering a lily, and Mary responds from behind a lectern in a dignified way.

This quintessential Madonna depicts Mary holding Christ flanked by diaphanous curtains pulled back by two cherubs gazing directly out at us. Divine transcendence mingles with mundane intimacy in the human tenderness between mother and child – Raphael’s grace amplifies emotional impact through idealized dignity and pyramidal poise. Initially, this Madonna iconography aimed to inspire religious devotion but over the ensuing centuries it far surpassed doctrine.

Rembrandt’s most spectacular narrative artwork in America is also his only seascape. It was created in 1633, shortly after Rembrandt arrived in Amsterdam from his home Leiden, and at a time when he was proving himself as the city’s preeminent portrait and historical subject painter.
